Being a true believer in preventative maintenance, I periodically give lectures at various organizations on preserving, conserving and restoring dolls.
    
     Preservation -  Protecting dolls from heat, light, insects, dust, dirt,
                            etc, etc.
     Conservation - Fixing a problem - restringing, treatment of insect
                            infestations, resetting eyes, etc, etc.                          
     Restoration - Replacing or improving - cleaning clothes, sculpting
                            missing parts, restyling wigs or repainting a doll.


I made and dressed the doll on the home page of this website, so I made myself a dress and hat like it and we both do the presentations.  Of course, I don't look anywhere near as good in my dress as she does in hers!
